Configuring: Concatenate

Create a new field which will contain the concatenated values, and define which constant string value will be added to which field values.

Worked example: Concatenate

Steps to configure

  1. Field configuration: Enter a name for the new field and select the values for concatenation.

  2. Execute: The dataset will be modified, adding the new field.

Step 1: Field configuration

Enter the name of the new field to be created, and define the field values or constants to be used for concatenation.

  • A valid name must be given to the new field.

  • The user can concatenate fields and constants.

    • Add a constant by typing it into the Value text box in the [Add Constant String Values] window and clicking on the [+] button next to the box. This constant will then be added in the Value text box under [New Field]. Remove the constant by clicking on the [-] button next to the box.

    • Add a Field by selecting a field and clicking on the [+] button next to the [Add Field Values]. Alternatively double click on the specific field. No timestamp fields are listed.

    • The selected field will then be added in the Value text box under [New Field]. You can remove this field by clicking on the [-] button next to the box.

    • To edit the [New Field] value, click on the [-] button to sequentially remove the added values, starting from the last added.

  • Default: an empty name and value text box.

  • Minimum configuration: the user must define a field name and a concatenation value.

Step 2: Execute

The dataset will be modified to contain the new field with concatenated string values.
